This Copyright Policy explains how intellectual property on softwarecosmos.com is protected, what you’re allowed to do with our content, how we handle material that belongs to others, and how to report a suspected infringement. It should be read alongside our Terms of Use, which also covers intellectual property.
Ownership of Content
All original content published on softwarecosmos.com — including articles, reviews, comparisons, guides, rankings, site graphics, and the overall look and structure of the Site — is the property of Softwarecosmos.com and its writers, and is protected under applicable copyright laws, unless a specific piece of content states otherwise.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Written articles, reviews, and comparison pieces
- Original screenshots, charts, and graphics we’ve created to illustrate our testing
- Editorial rankings, scoring methodology, and “best of” lists we’ve compiled
- Site branding, including our name, logo, and visual design elements
Copyright in this content exists automatically upon publication and does not require a formal registration or notice to be enforceable.
What You’re Permitted to Do
We’re glad to have our work referenced, discussed, and linked to elsewhere. You’re welcome to:
- Link directly to any article or page on softwarecosmos.com
- Quote a short, reasonable excerpt from an article — for example, in a news piece, forum discussion, or your own article — provided you include clear attribution and a link back to the original source
- Share our articles on social media using standard share functionality
- Reference our reviews or rankings in your own writing, in your own words, with a citation back to us
What’s Not Permitted
Without our prior written permission, you may not:
- Republish, reprint, or mirror a full article, or a substantial portion of one, on another website, newsletter, or publication
- Use automated scraping, crawling, or bulk-download tools to copy content from the Site
- Repackage our reviews, comparisons, or rankings as your own original work
- Use our original screenshots, charts, or graphics on another site or in another publication without credit and permission
- Use our name, logo, or site branding in a way that suggests an endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that doesn’t exist
- Incorporate our content into AI training datasets, content-generation pipelines, or automated republishing tools without authorization
If you’d like to license our content, republish an article in full, or use our research and rankings for a commercial purpose, contact us through the Contact page to discuss permission.
Third-Party and Product Trademarks
Our reviews and comparisons reference software products, company names, logos, and trademarks that belong to their respective owners — for example, the names of the SaaS platforms, VPN providers, and AI tools we cover. These are used solely for identification, commentary, and comparison purposes, under the principle of nominative fair use, and their appearance on our Site does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation with those companies unless explicitly stated.
If you are a rights holder and have concerns about how your trademark or product name is used on the Site, please contact us and we’ll review the matter.
Screenshots and Product Imagery
Many of our reviews include screenshots we’ve captured ourselves while testing a product, as part of our editorial commentary and evaluation. Where a review includes imagery, logos, or promotional graphics supplied by the software vendor rather than captured by us, we use these under fair use or with the vendor’s permission, and we make a reasonable effort to credit the source. If you are a vendor and would prefer we remove or replace specific imagery, reach out and we’ll address it promptly.
Use of Third-Party Content on This Site
We take copyright seriously in both directions. If our team uses a quote, statistic, image, or other material from a third-party source, we aim to do so under fair use principles, with attribution back to the original source, and within reasonable limits. If you believe your copyrighted material has been used on softwarecosmos.com in a way that goes beyond fair use or without proper authorization, we want to know about it and correct it.
Reporting a Copyright Concern
If you believe content on softwarecosmos.com infringes your copyright, please send us a notice through our Contact page that includes:
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, including where the original is published
- The specific URL(s) on softwarecosmos.com where the allegedly infringing content appears
- Your name, contact information, and, where applicable, your relationship to the copyright holder (owner, authorized agent, etc.)
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
- Your physical or electronic signature
We review copyright notices promptly and, where a claim is valid, will remove or modify the material in question. Where a notice is incomplete or unclear, we may reach out for clarification before taking action.
Counter-Notices
If you believe content of yours was removed or restricted in error — for example, because it was used under fair use, or because the underlying claim was mistaken — you may submit a counter-notice through the same Contact page, including:
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location on the Site before removal
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court
We’ll review counter-notices in good faith and respond accordingly.
Repeat Infringement
We do not tolerate repeated, knowing infringement of third-party copyright through user submissions, comments, or contributed content on the Site. Where we identify a pattern of infringing submissions from the same source, we reserve the right to remove the content and restrict that user’s ability to submit further content to the Site.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
